AICIA (Andalusian Association for Research and Industrial
Cooperation) is a non-profit public-interest association of researchers
and industrial companies. AICIA co-ordinates the research work
at the Escuela Superior de Ingenieros of the University of Sevilla.
AICIA has around 250 employees and is member of EACRO (European
Association of Contract Research Organizations) and FEDIT (Spanish
Federation of Innovation and Technology). Its objectives are
to encourage, guide and promote technological progress in Andalusia
(Southern Spain), and to help improve the professional training
The work will be developed at the Departamento de Ingeniería
de Sistemas y Automática de la Escuela Superior de Ingenieros
by the Industrial Automation Group led by Professor Eduardo F.
Camacho. The group has wide experience in fields such as modelling,
simulation and prediction of dynamical systems, artificial intelligence,
fuzzy logic and control, optimisation, etc., having developed
several software tools for industry.
AICIA plans to make use of the results obtained by the project
for consulting, education and research:
- Consulting. The method and tools developed will be used for:
- Consulting, for companies in the region, in the field of
modelling and assessment of the risk for new products development.
- Risk assessment of its own bids.
- Education. The results of the project will be used for:
- Postgraduate courses for employees of industrial companies.
- Material for undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the
Escuela Superior de Ingenieros, the main Engineering Faculty
in Southern Spain providing around 250 engineers every year.
Research. The group involved in the project will use both
tool and method, in their research work, which covers modelling
and simulation and the design of advanced control and supervisory
